SIGINAKA ISLANDS

CRUISE AND KAYAK ADVENTURE

Your adventure begins the moment you step aboard your expedition vessel, a one-of-a-kind, powered watercraft with a fully enclosed, heated cabin and restroom onboard. Your tour departs directly from the cruise ship pier allowing maximum time on the water. Enjoy a relaxing narrated sightseeing cruise enroute to the pristine Siginaka Islands. Along the way, wildlife sightings are common!

The expedition boat will dock at our private island, where your guides will present a fun and informative kayak skills and safety orientation. You and your paddle companions will then board your 2-person sea kayaks and launch from the island. Once afloat, you’ll have some time to dabble about in the crystal-clear shallows, getting comfortable with your craft, before we set out to explore this magical labyrinth of small islands.

While gliding quietly through narrow passages, your guides will help identify the colorful marine life visible below, including: crab, sea stars, anemones, sea urchins, jelly fish and more. Above the water’s surface there are frequent sightings of sea otters, sea lions, porpoise, harbor seals, bald eagles, and a variety of marine birds. You will also learn a little about the Tlingit people, who still harvest the ocean’s bounty using knowledge passed down since the last ice age.

After about 90-minutes of paddling, you will land back at the base camp to enjoy a snack and soak in the soul-stirring views before re-boarding the motor vessel. The return voyage to your ship will take a completely different route. Sit in the comfortable heated cabin or lean against an outside deck rail, as you watch for whales and other interesting sights.
